FIFA+ Collect: A New Era of NFT-Driven Fan Engagement

Think NFTs are dead?

Think again.

FIFA+ Collect has introduced an exciting opportunity for football fans through its 'First-Timers' activation, offering a chance to purchase World Cup tickets.

Launched back in 2022, this platform has instigated a collection challenge featuring multiple levels, which, upon completion, grants participants the rare opportunity to secure two tickets for the three group stage matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The "First-Time" activation centers around the debut goals of iconic football legends such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Roberto Baggio, and Didier Drogba.

Catering to diverse collector preferences and budgets, FIFA’s NFTs are categorized into various types: Common NFTs represent everyday items or moments, Rare NFTs depict unique or limited edition events, Epic NFTs capture highly significant moments or figures, and Iconic NFTs represent culturally significant assets with the highest value.

To complete the challenge and gain the right to purchase tickets, fans must navigate through different levels by collecting specific items:

  • Level 1: Obtain three specific commons
  • Level 2: Add three more specific commons
  • Level 3: Complete the commons by acquiring the remaining three
  • Level 4: Secure the three rare moments available
  • Level 5: Finish the collection with the two epic and the iconic moments

NFTs can be acquired through packs priced at $14.99, each containing varying probabilities of obtaining different rarity tiers.

Common items have the highest prevalence at 85.3%, followed by rare items at 12%. Epic items appear less frequently at 2.33%, while Iconic items are the most elusive, with odds at 0.333%.

Collectors can also purchase NFTs directly from others; for example, Ronaldo’s iconic 2006 World Cup goal NFT, listed by sellers for $2,000-$5,000, recently sold for $1,750 via a social media transaction tracker.

Although the exact cost for completing the challenge remains unspecified, preliminary reports suggest group stage tickets might be priced between $60 and $600.

Emphasizing the World Cup's return to U.S. soil in 2026, FIFA unveiled a limited ‘Glory’ edition for the First-Timers activation. This unique collectible, restricted to 100 copies, celebrates Timothy Weah’s inaugural goal for the U.S. men’s national team. It also provides unparalleled utility, granting holders the exclusive rights to purchase a ticket for the opening match at the SoFi Arena in Los Angeles on June 12, 2026.

Despite a downturn in NFT popularity among sports organizations, FIFA’s imaginative approach sets a new benchmark for fan engagement. The Europe First Timers NFT collection recently experienced rapid sell-out due to high demand, promising fans unique opportunities tied to the FIFA World Cup 2026.

While this initial release is no longer available, additional drops are anticipated, each offering collectible NFTs that come with the right to purchase World Cup tickets.
